A sinus lift is a surgical procedure that raises the sinus floor to provide sufficient bone volume for dental implant placement. After the loss of molars and premolars in the upper jaw, bone resorption and sinus expansion often occur, leaving a thin bone layer insufficient for implantation. This procedure creates a bone height of 8-15 mm, allowing for secure implant placement.
Bone augmentation is performed when there is insufficient bone width or height at the planned implant site. The procedure involves adding artificial bone in granules or blocks, which are covered with a membrane and sutured to ensure optimal integration.
A 3D scan is required to plan these procedures, which are performed under local anesthesia and are completely painless. Implants can be placed immediately after the procedure or after 4-6 months, depending on the surgeon’s assessment.
