PhD, Clinical Director
Prof. Dr. Mirko Jankov, PhD, Clinical Director, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at
the University of Belgrade (Serbia). He completed his ophthalmology residency in São Paulo
(Brazil), a subspecialization in refractive surgery in Zurich (Switzerland), and a
subspecialization in cataract and anterior segment surgery also in São Paulo (Brazil).
He
worked as a research and clinical fellow with Prof. Dr. Theo Seiler in Zurich (Switzerland)
and Ioannis Pallikaris in Heraklion (Greece), and since then, he has been part of the clinical
research team at the Institute for Refractive and Ophthalmoplastic Surgery (IROC) in Zurich
(Switzerland).
In addition, he is an organizer and lecturer in the subspecialist refractive surgery course in Zurich and an internationally certified instructor for Alcon / WaveLight. He earned his PhD in the field of bioengineering at the Federal University of São Paulo (Brazil). For years, he led the refractive team at the Curitiba Eye Institute (IOC) in Curitiba (Brazil) and the Miloš Clinic in Belgrade (Serbia).
He is the author of more than a hundred scientific papers published in journals, books, and conferences, and serves as a reviewer for numerous professional journals, including Archives of Ophthalmology, Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Current Eye Research, Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Journal of Refractive Surgery, Middle East and African Journal of Ophthalmology, and Ophthalmology. He is a member of prestigious American, European, Brazilian, and Serbian general and subspecialty ophthalmological associations, a regular invited speaker at major international ophthalmology conferences, and a recipient of numerous awards, including the Global Ambassador of Ophthalmology award in 2007.
